Attending ALL of the clinics will also serve as the “tryout” for the 5th and 6th grade teams. Competitive teams will be established by the end of the sessions. Competitive teams will have their official practice starting the week of December 2nd. Any athlete that does not make the Competitive Team by the end of the sessions will be reimbursed all fees minus $35 clinic fee. 5th Graders who do not make the Competitive Team may have an opportunity to play in the 3/4 grade Recreation League if they are interested and fees would be adjusted accordingly.

Who may try out for Classic Teams? Tryouts are open to all 4th through 8th graders. 4th Graders may try out to make the 5th grade competitive team and should show up on the first scheduled clinic. If it is decided that it is a possibility they can make the 5th grade competitive team they will continue attending the Preseason Clinics. Note: 4th graders will be placed on a 5th grade team only if there are not enough 5th graders trying out.

Who will choose the teams? The high school head basketball coaches are in charge of this process and how it will be organized and run.

What is the cost? New player cost is $165 + $30 new uniform charge. Returning players cost is $165, this does not include a uniform. If you are a returning player and you need a uniform, you can purchase a jersey for $35 and/or shorts for $20. We suggest you check with friends and family for outgrown and no longer needed uniforms to keep costs down. PLEASE NOTE: All uniform fees will be collected  when you register online.

Who will coach? Coaches need to apply online at Final coaching decisions will be made by the Banks High School basketball coaches and the BYBA Board.

Commitment level? These teams will play competitive basketball against other classic teams. Therefore, we want players who are committed to working hard, striving to improve, and are team oriented.  Players will be expected to attend all practices and games/tournaments.

Practice times? Classic teams will most likely practice 3-4 nights a week. Times will be determined by coaches and gym availability. Flexibility is a must. Once placed on a team, your coach will contact you with practice times.

Games/Tournaments? Teams will participate in several tournaments during the season*. These tournaments occur on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and will be in the greater Portland area and as far away as Seaside and Bend. There may also be occasional pick-up or practice games at various times. Dates and times of games and tournaments will come at a later date. Again flexibility is a must.

* In the past, competitive teams have participated in the Hillsboro league with weekday games as well as tournaments. The Hillsboro league has been discontinued and we are looking into options to add games during the week in Banks.
